ABOUT HUNTER:
The first pair of shears I touched were my dad’s at 18 months old. In high school, the only classes that held my attention were, PhotoShop, film study, fashion design, and chemistry. I am a hands on person and always knew I would create for a living. I started cosmetology school one month after graduating High School with the mindset that I would have an AMAZING job to pay my way through college. Two weeks into cosmetology school my instructor inspired my AH-HA moment when she mentioned runway (I loved fashion design). She mentioned photoshoots (I loved photography). She mentioned hair competitions (I was a gymnast for 16 years). She mentioned working with product brands and teaching classes (I loved chemistry and coached gymnastics). Hair seemed to be the perfect career path.
After receiving my license, I attended the Gene Juarez advanced training salon for color, and then moved my knowledge to the cutest salon back home. The Hair Lounge was full of creative people striving to learn more; hair extensions, hair shows, costume design, and coworkers that became family. They gave me the courage to do up dos while blindfolded on stage, and also gave me the courage to make BIG moves. I moved to the city as an apprentice at SEVEN salon, and worked my way up to the youngest senior stylist in less than four years. I received expert education, and gained experience in product development, photoshoots and commercials. I taught organizational classes, advanced color techniques, and social media marketing/photography for stylists.
I had the passionate urge to create an authentic space where my clients feel empowered and confident. I wanted to motivate and inspire hairstylists and like-minded people to build a positive, collaborative and supportive community in our industry. By using these platforms of community and social media, my goal has been to create, learn and grow further into editorial/runway/photoshoots for brands/magazines/product lines, all while still coming back to my first love of course: THE HAIR.
That’s where you come in. Have a seat in my chair! Let’s create!
